You need to stay pretty focused on a topic. What is your Instagram page gonna be about? You can’t just have a general one since that’s not something people are going to latch on to and follow. So you need to pick a topic and make sure to fill your page with that topic then hashtag properly. For example: I might have a page about funny stuff and post funny pics, videos and other stuff like memes or whatever. Then I’ll make sure to hashtag them properly so that they show up when people search. Hashtags like
#lol #LMAO #LMFAO #FUNNY #hilarious #haha #rofl #meme #laugh #fail and whatever it is that matches your content. Hashtags helps people find your content.

Then you want to consider running multiple pages. There’s lots of tools and other ways to do this without getting into trouble but you can only make so much money per page so you might want to have about 5-10 different Instagram accounts on various topics depending on what you have time to manage. Try to pick topics that might help you sell something. So if you’re doing a bodybuilding topic, you could sell bodybuilding supplements.

Getting ads and making money:

So Instagram doesn’t do the whole pay per view thing like youtube or anything like that. This means that you can’t get any real money for people “viewing” your page. You need to setup with CPA ads or cost per action ads. This means you get paid when someone else buys something or takes an action. There’s tons of CPA ads out there which range from teeth whitening to making money when someone downloads an app. You just need to pick out the ones that match your content and make sense on your page then show them as a normal post. So let’s say that you’re into bodybuilding, you might post about 20 pictures of liftings weights or your super abs or whatever it is then you’ll add a post showing your favorite protein. Only, the protein post is where you make money. You suggest people buy if it they want to be jacked and ripped like you (or whoever’s photo you use). Then when they click, you’ll have a referral link attached to it and if they buy the protein or anything else, you’ll get a commission. All CPA ads work like this, whether someone buys or just does something that doesn’t cost them money at all like filling our a survey or downloading an app. You’ll get paid. This is why you need to have legit content. You don’t want to look like a walking billboard. People don’t like that and they see it all the time. You’ll be ignored at best and reported for useless content and maybe banned at worst. You want to throw out bunch of content. I’d say a 20:1 ratio of good content to ad posts is the golden zone. You also want to update your Instagram everyday. Instagram just released a new algorithm so they’re really focused on how recent a post was made and how “relevant” it is. You can’t let something sit idle and you can’t just post randomness. Remember, these are REAL people looking at you and it’s the REAL people who you’re trying to make money off of.

Honestly, if you spend an hour a day. A good, real hour of time, you can probably manage about 5 instagram pages at minimum and update them with real content. I’d add at LEAST 2-3 posts per day per account. Ideally not all at the same. One in the morning, one mid day and one in the very early evening as you don’t want to go too late and have everyone be asleep.

The more work you do, the more money you make. Good luck!

I don’t know if Instagram is a good place on its own to make money from but if you have another way that you’re making money then you can guide your Instagram followers to whatever it is. I see a lot of fitness trainers posting pics of their abs and using it as a way to get people to check them out or become clients…

If you get popular enough, people and companies will come to you with sponsorship deals and asking you to promote them. But you need to get a lot of followers. Like tens of thousands at least.
